What is a Failure Analysis?

A failure analysis is performed for these situations:

  • A metal component fails during testing or use
  • A component does not meet quality requirements after it has been fabricated
  • Stock metal used to fabricate a component does not meet requirements

This video is a short discussion of the circumstances when a failure analysis is performed, the goals of a failure analysis, and the steps of a failure analysis.
