Annealing Cold Worked Metals
Cold-worked metals are recrystallization annealed for the purpose of reducing strength, increasing ductility, and obtaining a desired grain size. The changes in mechanical properties associated with recrystallization annealing are needed to enable further cold-working of metal stock such as sheet, plate, and wire that has been cold worked to its maximum limit or to meet specific mechanical property specifications for components manufactured from metal stock.
