Tensile Testing

Tensile testing is a common analysis technique used to determine metal yield strength, tensile strength, elongation, and elastic modulus.  You will learn how tests are performed, test sample preparation, and interpreting the date.

What you’ll learn about tensile testing

The following aspects of tensile testing are taught in this course:

  • How a tensile test is performed
  • Stress and strain curve
  • How to determine elastic modulus, yield strength, tensile strength, and elongation from a stress-strain curve

Course content

The course takes about 30 minutes to complete and consists of one module and a final exam.   Also, a quiz and problems give you opportunities to apply the concepts taught.

Course certificate

A certificate of completion is awarded upon successful course completion.  However, no continuing education units (CEUs) are awarded for this course because of its short length.
