Elecroplating course - for design, manufacturing, and quality engineers

Electroplating involves the deposition of thin metal coating on metal components and metal stock.  Knowledge about the electroplating process steps, important coating properties and features and how they are evaluated, and coating defects and causes is important for getting coatings that meet your specifications.

If you're involved with metal plating selection, supplier evaluation, and solving quality problems with electroplated coatings, then this course is for you.  You'll learn concepts that will enable you to:

  • Make better design and manufacturing decisions
  • Solve quality problems
  • Select capable supplier

What electroplating topics does this course cover?

This course covers the following topics:

  • Process steps for electroplating and supporting processes
  • Different process formats
  • Coating properties, features, and defects, and how they are evaluated
  • Effects of electroplating process steps on coating properties, features, and defects
  • Important coating properties, features, and defects for six different coating uses.
  • Selecting and specifying coatings
  • Evaluating electroplating companies

Course modules

The course is divided into four modules:

  • Module 1: Process steps
  • Module 2: Coating properties, features, and defects
  • Module 3: Coating Uses
  • Module 4: Coating selection, coating specification, supplier evaluation
