What you’ll learn about precipitation strengthening
The following aspects of precipitation strengthening are taught in this course:
- How precipitation strengthens an alloy.
- Heat treating process steps for precipitation strengthening an alloy and the microstructure changes that occur during each step.
- The microstructure changes that occur during precipitation strengthening heat treating
- The effects of heat treating process conditions on alloy microstructure and strength
- Heat treating process parameters and their effects on alloy microstructure and strength.
The course takes about 3 hours to complete and consists of 5 modules and a final exam. Each module is 20-30 minutes long. Also, quizzes and problems give you opportunities to apply the concepts taught. The module titles are:

Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate for 2 credit hours (0.2 CEU’s).
