Our courses teach the practical aspects of metallurgy without overwhelming students with academic details. The metallurgy concepts taught will help people with common design, manufacturing, and supplier decisions and problems. You will learn how a metal's properties are influenced by its microscopic structures and composition and how metal properties are modified and controlled through alloy composition and manufacturing processes.
All our courses were designed by Michael Pfeifer, Ph.D., P.E., who has been a metallurgical engineer for more than 20 years.
Engineering background not required to take courses
You do not need a technical degree to take our courses. However, a technical mindset is needed. Many sales and purchasing agents have taken our courses, and recommended them to other people.
Course presentation method
Each course consists of slides, video, and audio narration. Our shortest course takes about 30 minutes to complete. Our longest takes about 6 hours to complete. However, we’ve broken our longer courses into several modules that are each no longer than 30 minutes.
Learn at your convenience and at your pace
Because the courses are online, on-demand, you can access the courses when it’s convenient for you. This means not having to take time off work or having travel expenses. Also, you can take on as much learning at one time as you can absorb, rather than trying to absorb a huge amount of information in one day.
Looking for live courses?
We spend a great deal of time thinking through the content and logic of our courses to make sure the information is focused, complete, and practical. We believe that this and the ability to learn at your own pace enables better learning compared to trying to absorb a large amount of information in a one or two day live course.
As a fellow engineer I know how hard it can be to find the time to get the required training and expertise that can be holding you and your company back from the next level. That’s why I’ve developed these online training courses that allow you to proceed at your own pace, when it’s convenient for you. Michael Pfeifer, Ph.D., P.E., President, Industrial Metallurgists, LLC
